Developing Capacity 8: Resting Free

Verse 18

Look at objects and there is no object: one sees mind;
Look at mind and there is no mind: it is empty of nature;
Look at both of these and dualistic clinging subsides on its own.
May I know sheer clarity, the way mind is.

Meditation

  • Rest the mind free and easy.
  • Rest free of any attempt to control or alter the mind’s nature.
  • There is nothing to be removed, there is nothing to be added.
  • No need to improve on what is already present.
  • Rest free from seeking for something to be negated.
  • Rest free from seeking to construct something.
  • Rest free from seeking for something to hold on to.
  • Rest free from seeking anything at all.
  • Rest free from pursuing anything at all.
  • Remain free from achieving a certain state.
  • Rest free and easy.

After Meditation

  • Have you come to the realization that the true nature of mind cannot be created or recreated.
  • Are you bound by “seeking” during meditation?
  • How well can you remain in doing nothing?

During the Day

Take moments during the day to be with experience free from controlling or manipulating the experience.
